Our main axis of research aims at understanding how blood cell development is controlled under normal or pathological conditions using Drosophila as a model system. In particular we study how GATA and RUNX transcription factors control cell fate choice and differentiation during haematopoiesis and leukaemia. Moreover, we are interested in deciphering the regulation of Drosophila larval and adult hematopoietic system homeostasis by genetic and environmental cues.

In parallel, we analyze the biological properties of Ly6 protein family members. We investigate their mechanism of action during paracellular barrier formation in Drosophila and the mechanisms underlying their functional diversification during insect evolution.
