Cognitive processes and behaviour

The BEHAVIOR research program uses comparative and hypothesis-driven approaches to investigate the mechanisms of behavior and cognition across scales from single-celled organisms to multi-cellular individuals and animal societies.

Our work integrates a wide range of complementary methods and tools, including field studies, cognitive and behavioral assays, neuroethology, computational analysis and modelling. Using different animal models, the BEHAVIOR teams focus on :

1) The determinants of phenotypic plasticity across biological scales

2) Experience-dependent plasticity in animals, with particular emphasis on cognitive functions

3) The underlying processes of social behavior displayed by individuals in different contexts and across species with different levels of sociality

4) The behavioral and cognitive mechanisms underlying collective behaviors and decision making in animal and human groups.
