The IT department plays an essential role in the CBI’s operations.
Its objectives are to guarantee a reliable and secure IT infrastructure, to ensure that scientific and technical data is accessible, secure and durable, to provide the scientific community and the CBI’s common services with secure working tools and to provide local assistance.
Main tasks:
– Managing the IT infrastructure: installing, maintaining and updating servers, keeping the network, network services and various IT equipment in operational condition.
– Managing the IT estate: installing, configuring and networking workstations.
– Providing technical support and assistance to users (hardware and software troubleshooting, drafting documentation, etc.).
– Ensuring the security and protection of data (securing the infrastructure, managing external access, backing up/recovering data and protecting sensitive data).
– Participate in specific scientific projects requiring IT expertise (data storage, scientific data sharing, etc.).
– Enhance the IS by putting tools into service (Cloud, provision of scientific databases via the web, Wiki platform to help with the use of IT tools, room and equipment reservations, etc.).
