The sticky secrets of the brain: How neurons find their ideal partner

The way the brain functions depends on the precise organisation of neuronal connections. Filipe Pinto-Teixeira, Yannick Carrier, Laura Quintana Rio, Nadia Formicola, Vicente de Sousa- Xavier, Maha Tabet, Maëva Wislez, Lisa Orts (MCD-CBI) and their colleagues show in this study, how neurons establish their connections in specific layers using adhesion molecules. This work, which focuses on the Drosophila visual system, could provide valuable clues for understanding the fundamental mechanisms of circuit development, including in humans.
