Equality Correspondents act as local contact points for CBI staff on all matters related to gender equality in the workplace. Their mission is to ensure that professional equality is not just a principle on paper, but a reality experienced by everyone on a daily basis.

👉 Concretely, their role is to:

  • Inform and raise awareness on issues of equality, diversity, and respect at work.
  • Welcome and guide any person (newcomer or current staff) who has questions or faces difficulties related to equality, discrimination, or gender-based and sexual violence.
  • Relay and implement equality initiatives from the CNRS and the University, in connection with the regional network and the Equality Mission.
  • Report to the unit management and the Equality Mission about needs or difficulties encountered in the application of measures and/or actions.
  • Listen actively and confidentially to victims of gender-based discrimination.
  • Refer complex cases or people in distress to the regional Equality Representative.

💡 Equality Correspondents are not an HR service nor official mediators: their role is to connect, to listen discreetly, and to guide you toward the right contacts if needed.

The equality correspondents are available to listen to you regarding any questions or situations related to equality, the prevention of discrimination based on sex/gender, harassment or violence, as well as to promote a more inclusive culture within the CBI

Equality Correspondents are therefore trusted and approachable contacts—acting as relays, early-warning points, and facilitators—so that everyone can work in a respectful and fair environment.

Awareness-raising actions may include:

  • information sessions for staff and newcomers,
  • seminars,
  • coffee/discussion meetings,
  • exhibitions,
  • quizzes,
  • articles in the local newsletter.
