Presentation
The research activity of the MCD unit is dedicated to fundamental research in life sciences, focused on the mechanisms governing genome organization and function, cell division and mechanics, cell identity and development. Research is performed at scales ranging from single molecules and macromolecular machines to tissues/organs and whole organisms. The MCD unit includes 26 teams structuring the activity of more than 200 people within 4 research programs. The Centre de Biologie Integrative (CBI) is a federation that includes the MCD, LMGM and CRCA units, joint research units between the University of Toulouse Paul Sabatier and the CNRS.
Kerstin BYSTRICKY
Professor of Molecular Biology, is Principal Investigator at the CBI since 2008 and Director of the MCD since 2021.
Kestin Bystricky arrived in Toulouse in 2004 as Associate Professor (MCU) after 6 years postdoc in Switzerland (ETH Zürich, Uni Geneva). She holds a PhD (1998) from the Pennsylvania State University, USA, and a Diplôme d’Ingénieur Agronome (INA-PG now AgroParisTech, 1993).
Gaëlle LEGUBE
is Principal Investigator at the CBI and represents the CODE community (“Chromosome Organization, Dynamics and Evolution”) at the MCD board.
Gaëlle Legube obtained her PhD in 2003 from the University of Toulouse, then performed a post-doc at the EMBL, in Heidelberg, Germany. In 2006, she obtained a CNRS position to join the lab of Didier Trouche in Toulouse, and established her own research group in 2011 at the CBI.
Alice DAVY
is Principal Investigator at the CBI and represents the STADE community (“Stem Cells and Development”) at the MCD board.
Alice Davy pursued a PhD (1999) at the University of Calgary (Canada) and the University of Grenoble, then performed a post-doc at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle (USA). She established her own research group in 2007 at the CBI.
Anthony HENRAS
is Principal Investigator at the CBI since 2011 and represents the RNA Biology research program at the MCD Board.
Anthony Henras obtained his PhD (2002) from the University of Toulouse, then performed a postdoc at the University of California, Los Angeles, USA. In 2006, he obtained a CNRS position at the LBME in Toulouse, France.
Magali SUZANNE
is Principal Investigator at the CBI since 2011 and represent the CellDyn community (“Cell cycle, Cell dynamics and mechanics”) at the MCD board.
Magali Suzanne obtained her PhD (1999) from the University of Toulouse, then performed a post-doc at the CBM in Madrid, Spain. In 2005, she obtained a position as a CNRS researcher and worked at the IBV in Nice, France. From 2008 to 2010, she was a visiting scientist at the Rockefeller University in New York, USA.
