Mon domaine de recherche est l'éthologie et l'analyse quantitative des comportements De manière générale je m'intéresse à l'étude desdéplacements animaux, aussi bien au niveau individuel qu'au niveau collectif. Les thématiques sur lesquelles je travaille sont variées : analyse et modélisation des déplacements, mécanismes d’orientation et de navigation, comportement de recherche et de récolte de nourriture, comportement locomoteur, énergétique et biomécanique de la locomotion, comportement de transport d’objets... Je travaille en particulier sur les déplacements, les comportements et les prises de décision collectives chez les insectes sociaux (essentiellement fourmis) en utilisant une approche qui mêle expériences et modélisation. L’objectif de ma recherche est de comprendre les mécanismes qui permettent aux insectes de coordonner leurs activités collectives au sein de leur colonie. Ces recherches sont menées aussi bien au laboratoire que sur le terrain, en particulier au Brésil où j’ai participé à plusieurs projets de recherche sur le comportement d’approvisionnement des fourmis coupeuses de feuilles.

I am an ethologist and I work on the quantitative analysis of behavior . I am interested in all components of animal movement , whether at the individual or collective level . I thus work on a variety of research topics: analysis and modeling of animal movement, orientation and navigation mechanisms, foraging behavior, locomotor behavior, energetics and biomechanics of locomotion, load-carrying behavior. During the last twenty years my work has focused on the collective movement, behaviour and decision in social insects (mainly ants) with an approach that tightly combines experiments and modelling. The objective of my research is to understand the mechanisms that allow individual insects to coordinate their collective activities within their colony. My research is conducted both in the lab and in the field, in particular in Brazil where I have participated in several research projects on the foraging behavior of leaf-cutting ants.
