After 15 years' experience in infectious disease research at the CNRS, Dr Isabelle Saves turned to international cooperation. Seconded to the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she initially set up and developed the training program for pharmacists at the University of Antananarivo (Madagascar) coordinating a public-private partnership. With a further four years' experience as attaché for scientific and university affairs at the French Consulate General in Hong Kong and Macao (China), she returned to the CNRS -Toulouse in September 2016 as head of international cooperation for the Centre for Integrative biology (CBI-Toulouse) and the Institute of Pharmacology and Structural biology (IPBS), research units of the CNRS and the University of Toulouse, home to over 600 research staff, or almost 40% of the biological sciences workforce in Toulouse. Since 2024, she is deputy director of the Federative structure of research “biology and biotechnology for Health” of Toulouse.

My activity aims at proposing, developing and implementing an internationalisation strategy
 Strengthening international reputation and influence
 Developing and structuring the cooperation
 Facilitating access to European and international funding opportunities
 Positioning our institute within the European Research Area
 Influencing European policies for Research and Innovation in favour of Global Health

MY AMBITION: Promoting outstanding basic research activities led at IPBS and CBI and more generaly in Life Sciences/Biomedical institutes of Toulouse university, and developing an international strategy toward increased. international visibility and attractiviness and an expanded scientific network.
