15:00
4R4-RDC | Salle Conférence (182 pers.)Type 4 filament (Tff) nanomachines are envelope-embedded macromolecular complexes organized around a dynamic pilus-like structure. They are widespread in prokaryotes where they fulfill diverse cellular functions. One member of this superfamily, the type 2 secretion system (T2SS) promotes the specific secretion of large, folded effectors across the outer membrane through a giant, finely-controlled secretin pore, under the impetus of a small periplasmic fiber, the endopilus. The seminar will describe several newly identified protein-protein interactions, as well as structure-function advances in the field that have improved our molecular understanding of how this atypical Tff nanomachine manages the secretion of large effectors without affecting envelope integrity.References:- Escobar CA, Douzi B, Ball G, Barbat B, Alphonse S, *Quinton L, *Voulhoux R, *Forest KT.
